5th Annual Unity in the Community Event: First A.B. Church, 130 Tyler St., Monroe. Comforting Souls Ministries and The Weekend Academy will host the annual Unity in the Community event from noon-5 p.m. Saturday. The Weekend Academy is a nonprofit organization created to provide supervised service oriented programs for youth ages 16-24, who are offenders or re-offenders who appear at municipal court for misdemeanors and are on probation obtain their GED, and gain employment, after completing of their sentence.
